3rd Edition of International Obesity and Metabolism Conference 2027

Scientific Sessions - IOMC 2027

Obesogenic Environment and Built Environment

There is evidence that the physical and social surroundings where one lives, works, studies, travels and accesses their food can have an impact on their metabolic health. In this session we will talk about obesogenic environments and discuss the role played by community design, food environment, means of transport, characteristics of the neighborhood, and physical activities in the health behaviors of the populations.

We will address such issues as food environments, walkability, urban design, transportation, recreation facilities, workplace environment, schools, neighborhood conditions, access to healthy foods, etc. The researchers will consider the interrelation between environmental influences, individual behavior, socio-economic status, cultural influences, and public policy.

The International Obesity and Metabolism Conference provides the multidisciplinary forum for urban planners, public health scientists, nutritionists, policy makers and health professionals to talk about healthier environments.
